Logo Redesign Project

For our first design project on Digital Media BA at University of Leeds, we were challenged with redeigning an exisiting local buisness logo to improve btoh aesthetic and practicality. The old brand logo portrayed care and love, a focus of the brand, and featured paws. But, the logo remained messy, and did not allow for a sillouette version to be produced. The paws could not be identified at small scale. The new logo I've produced features the brands current colours and still portrays the love and care from the old logo. However, the new logo is scalable, can be used in a sillouette style, and is simple yet effective. The new logo features and identifiable cat and a dog, so audiences understand the companies range of servies through the logo.

In this design project, I developed key essential skills for vector graphic illustation using Adobe Illustrator software. This set me up with the knowledge to continue my own design projects, and allowed me to proceed on my course with confidence in using Adobe software tools like 'Pen' and 'Geometrics'. I used vector tracing techniques to achieve the illustation of the cat and dog, merging two images together then tracing over. I chose my font to look clean and neat, a key element for the nature of a pet trusted petcare company. Finally, I was able to learn the basics in compression, and the importance of sillouette logo versions to utlisise the logo over many products and to maximise effective brand identity.
